At Shelby Gardens, social connection is the heartbeat of our community. On any given morning you might find residents competing in a lively game of Family Feud in the activities room, stretching together in an exercise class, or gathering with Almarie and Andrea for Bible Study. By afternoon, Tim the Piano Man is playing in the common room. By 4 o’clock, Trivia is already full.

Most assisted living communities offer a handful of activities a few times a week. At Shelby Gardens, our calendar runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with programming flowing through our activities rooms, our outdoor spaces, and throughout the building.

Whether your loved one wants a quiet game of Dominoes, an evening of live music, or a community outing around Cordova and Memphis, the choice is always theirs. There is always something to look forward to, and an activity for everyone.

A Full Calendar of Activities for Every Interest

Our 24/7 activities schedule is so robust that in addition to our community rooms that have a constant flow of scheduled events, we also have activities throughout the building and on our outdoor spaces. This creates an energetic and active environment where everyone feels stimulated and fulfilled. Some examples are:

  • Daily Fitness & Movement Programs


    From morning Cardo sessions and daily Exercise Class to outdoor Corn Hole on the patio, our fitness programs are designed to keep every resident moving at their own pace as no experience required.

  • Music Therapy & Live Entertainment


    We regularly welcome live musicians and performers to Shelby Gardens, from Al Mahan and Bobby Lawson to Tim the Piano Man and the Driving Side Ways Band. These aren’t occasional treats; live entertainment is a regular fixture on our calendar, bringing residents together around shared moments every week.

  • Arts, Crafts & Creative Programs


    Our weekly Craft Class gives residents dedicated time to create, explore, and express themselves. Whether it’s a first attempt at a new art form or returning to a lifelong hobby, creative programming at Shelby Gardens is always open to everyone.

  • Spiritual Life & Faith Services


    We honor every resident’s faith tradition and background. Weekly Sunday Church Service, recurring Bible Study with Almarie and Andrea, and performances by Ms. Lily Spiritual Hymns and the Life in Spirit Church Choir.

  • Community Outings Around Cordova & Memphis


    Residents regularly venture out into Cordova and the greater Memphis area for day trips and local outings. Staying connected to the community they call home is a regular part of life at Shelby Gardens, not an occasional perk.

  • Classes and clubs – designed by residents


    Every Wednesday is Resident Choice Bingo, and that spirit of resident-driven programming runs through everything we do. Clubs and recurring activities at Shelby Gardens are shaped by the people who live here, ensuring the calendar always reflects real interests, not generic programming.

  • Games, Social Hours & Celebrations


    From Resident Choice Bingo and Family Feud to Trivia every afternoon at 4:00 and weekly Happy Hours with live music, there is always something social on the calendar.
